Petoskey is one of the most beautiful places on Earth—and I don’t say that lightly. After living and working across North America and the world, I chose to call Petoskey home in 2013. My wife, Deanna, and I settled in Ward 2, and like so many of you, we quickly fell in love with the natural beauty, the people, and the strong sense of community that make this city truly special.
However, even in a city as special as ours, we face challenges that deserve thoughtful attention—especially when it comes to housing, downtown development, and neighborhood master planning.
That’s why I, Charlie Willmott, am running to represent Ward 2 on the Petoskey City Council. I believe we have both the opportunity and the responsibility to build a future that matches the potential of this incredible place.
Experience
Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Planning Commission, where I’ve helped shape policies that impact housing, zoning, and short-term rentals in Petoskey. As Charlie Willmott, I’ve supported major projects like The Lofts at Lumber Square and The Block—and I’ve witnessed firsthand how Petoskey City Council leadership can truly drive good ideas forward.
However, I’ve also observed areas where we’ve fallen behind—particularly in housing. Many families and working professionals in Ward 2 struggle to find a suitable place to live. Our zoning code is outdated, and our approach to growth hasn’t always aligned with our community values or our vision. Petoskey deserves steady progress—and leaders who are willing to listen, act, and lead with integrity.
Leadership
My goal as your Petoskey City Council representative is simple: to make decisions that reflect the best interests of our city, our neighborhoods, and our shared future. I, Charlie Willmott, will listen to your concerns, work hard to find common ground, and always lead with honesty and dedication.
I’d be honored to earn your support this November. I love Petoskey and would be proud to serve as your city councilman for Ward 2 over the next 3 years.
